Overview: Entanglement

Review: Entanglement

Entanglement, a dystopic science fiction, by Alina Leonova is well written and has its moments, but the story does not pack enough punch to grab and sustain the reader’s attention.

Buy or Pass Recommendation: This is a difficult one. I will say pass for most readers. Buy, if you would like to be introduced to new concepts and ideas.

The Good

The writing is good and solid. The premise is intriguing, and the dystopic world the author builds is grounded and fascinating.

The Bad

There’s just not enough by way of plot or character development. The book does not live up to the expectation set by the first chapter. That’s because it is exposition and narrative heavy, which comes at the cost of dialogue and pacing.

The characters of Cay and Limea fall by the wayside almost. Most importantly, the story is more ‘tell’ than ‘show’.

The Nit-picks

None.

The author has a strong outline for a novel, but the story needs to be re-worked.
