One Monsoon in Mumbai by Anitha Perinchery

Overview: One Monsoon in Mumbai

Seema Rawat, an undercover intelligence agent, is tasked with laying a honey trap for Adhith Verma, son of the powerful but corrupt finance minister of India. A straightforward mission that gets complicated thanks to a couple of odd ducks—the agent’s controlling auntie and the target’s less than tactful best friend.

Review: One Monsoon in Mumbai

Boasting a solid plot with generous servings of humour and romance, One Monsoon in Mumbai makes for a charming afternoon read.

Buy or Pass Recommendation: A strong yes for fans of romantic comedy.

The Good

A well-written book; the plot is plausible, and the characters are original and well-rounded. The situational humour is on point; it had me in stitches on multiple occasions. The romance is believable and sweet without becoming overly mushy or corny. The bustling city of Mumbai, its vibrant beauty, its seedy underbellyare expertly captured by the author.

One Monsoon in Mumbai is a modern Indian romance novel with an international appeal.

The Bad

The ending was anticlimactic; a tepid finish to an otherwise exciting story.

The Nit-picks

None.

It was a fun read and a welcome distraction from current events. If romantic comedies are your thing, you should definitely check out One Monsoon in Mumbai.
